So over the phone

How do people manage long distance relationships? I am so in awe of people who can make it work no matter mountains, oceans, time zones or coasts. S2H has been gone 7 days and I am currently counting down the hours til he gets home tomorrow night. I am just not good at being on the phone and I never feel completely connected during our conversations or text messages. I just get off the phone and want more. So all you long distance love birds...how do you manage with all the miles?? Do you skype, watch tv over the phone, make a list during the day of things you want to mention...tell me, what keeps you sane!?

Am I getting old or is Land's End getting cool?

Happy Saturday blog world! Today is admittedly a lazy day for me. I stayed in my pjs for about 5 hours and then contemplated a run for a few hours and finally forced myself outside. The weather was great but my run...not so much...I need to get my butt in gear this month before my 10 mile race! Yikes!
Anyways, during my lazy morning (ahem, afternoon) I had some time to catch up on my blog reading. My sweet JMU friend from Off the Hanger had a great posting that lead me to the Land's End website. Have you been to the old classic, Land's End, website lately? When I think LE I think of the mock turtle necks my grandma buys there every fall. Well I was shocked when I viewed LE's new Canvas 1963 line. Their summer clothes are refreshing and make me want to go grab my Sperry's and hop on a sailboat. Well I haven't been sailing since grade school but I do have an April beach trip and here a few things I have my eye on.

Starbucks Fail

The past few weeks I have been on the road for work. And my diet has definitely suffered as a result. Interacting with people all day makes me crave junk food and somehow chips and salsa just makes sleeping in a hotel not so bad! Well today as I had meeting after meeting all I could think about was a cupcake...I know, so not deep. At the end of the long day I rushed over to Starbucks to try their new vanilla bean cupcake, I even got a mini milk box to go with it! I tucked it away for my late night treat and waited til Lost started to savor it. Well I'm on a commercial break for Lost and that cupcake is in the trash! Total fail. The cupcake was dry and the icing was blah in my mouth! So disappointing I could cry...my vanilla milk box was better than that crummy cupcake. So boo Starbucks...from the Queen of Sweets: cupcake=downgrade.

Saving Grace

Some of you may have heard how the DC area has completely shut-down and most are out of school & work. Well, here is my pouty moment...I STILL HAD TO TRAVEL FOR WORK. That's right people. I had to get myself to Enterprise on Monday and beg for an SUV and then crawl my way down to NC for a business trip. So I am not happy...I love nothing more than a snow day...2 snow days, just not fair!

Alas, there is a saving grace! Nina from Peace, Love & Good Food is making her own little trip to come have a date night with me! We are never in a 2 hour drive from each other so this is really a treat. I haven't seen Miss. Nina since her big engagement so I can't wait to give her a huge hug and demand to try on her new bling (I know it's tacky but I don't care!)!! A night with my Nin definitely makes up for 2 missed snow days (maybe 3). Thank goodness for wonderful friends and girls nights!

Snow Action...Take 2!

Well loves, it looks like a snow storm is taking over my weekend once again. I'm flying solo this weekend, but I do have Louie here to keep me company. Since S2H won't be here to cozy up with me I stopped by Trader Joe's this afternoon for a few treats...couple bottles of red wine, mac & cheese, and a Toblerone bar (hopefully I can make it last all weekend). If you're getting snowed in I hope you too have all the necessities! xoxo

*And don't you fret...there will most definitely be a post dedicated to Louie in the snow!

Wishing S2H the Happiest of Birthdays!

Today S2H turns 26! It is so exciting to celebrate another birthday together! S2H has surpassed the quarter century mark with flying colors! During his 25th year he became a godfather, ran his first 10 mile race, taught me to ski, learned to brew beer, and continued to be a wonderful brother, uncle, son, friend, and my best everything! Cheers to you babe, happy birthday!
